What we do

We invest in the development of children and youth from the age of 10 – together with society. Our science-based approach is shaped from one vision and applied across four programs aimed at different target groups. We operate in the poorest neighborhoods of the Netherlands at our weekend schools, at dozens of elementary schools, and at newcomer schools.

Educational concept

ToekomstExpeditie is a motivation-based educational program complementing the standard curriculum. We hereby allow the natural motivation of young people to blossom – independent of their school performance. A motivated attitude to life is the outcome of high quality education.

Effects and impact

We fuel children’s natural motivation by inviting enthusiastic professionals as their guest teachers. This significantly advances aspects like motivation, future prospects, self-confidence, and civic engagement.

Weekend schools

The birthplace of our education and also the blueprint for all our programs. At ten locations in seven major cities, we organize a three-year curriculum with classes every Sunday for students in grades 7 and 8 plus the first year of bridge class.

Primary schools

In our elementary school program, we integrate Future Expedition in elementary schools, during school hours. This way, as many young people as possible benefit from our approach, at elementary school located in the poorest neighborhoods in the Netherlands. Our program is designed for grade 7 and 8 students, in intensive collaboration with teachers and principals.

Alumni network

The network of former students of the weekend schools. Young people from all school types have gone through a developmental journey together every Sunday for three years, consider each other as family and help each other along. Also for former students of our newcomer program. In the alumni network of IMC Weekend School, every activity is good for the alumnus as well as for us as an organization.
